Raj and Amy Get Married!

Oh my Goodness! I haven't shown you any photos or details of the best few weeks of my year!!

In March my big Sis and her handsome beau travelled from London where they have lived for 7(?) years to get married in front of their friends and family in Akaroa.

Since Amy was planning her dream wedding across the other side of the world I ended up (joyfully) doing a few of the details from this side of the globe to make life easier for her. It was a huge event, one that took a lot of planning and I can't quite believe how much they managed just on emails and phone calls!

I'm quite proud of what I was able to achieve and absolutely loved doing the decorations for the wedding!

Here are some beautiful photos from the big day...

My most beautiful, stunning sister in her wedding gown!

The three nieces wore indian choli's which Amy and Raj bought when they were in India over the new years and walked down the aisle with Amy and Dad. They were adorable!

Nanny Kim went with us and played Nanny for all the girls, they loved her and had a great time once they were through with their flower girl roles.

My new brother, Raj!

Oh hello MrMoo! Graeme was given the honour of officiating their marriage!

This wedding was on such an absolutely beautiful day heading into Autumn. It was set at a lodge on the hillside looking down into Akaroa habour! We couldn't have asked for a better day.

The reception was in a big room with a massive fireplace and long tressle tables. Amy and Raj didn't have a wedding party, and sat with the guests at the tables.

We filled the beams with white bunting, fairy lights, and on the tables; jars of garden flowers, candles, burlap and river stones as place settings with the guests name beautifully inked on by my friend Rosita. On the mantle piece they displayed photos of their grandparents on their wedding days.

Phew, it was such a big day and such a rush! I was rushing around everywhere pulling things together at the last minute, but it was so much fun and I really enjoyed it all! It felt like a privilege to be involved in their wedding and it was a beautiful, flawless day!

They hired a band to play the night out, and at the end of the night it was Amy, Raj, Graeme and Myself. In typical Amy fashion, she danced to every single song and had to be sent home so we could lock up!

Happy Marriage Raj & Amy, we love you both x

Cardigan Restyle

When my Big Sister moved to London she left some clothes, a bed and a jewellery box in my possession for safe keeping. The bed I have since given birth on (and apparently she doesn't want it back now??), the jewellery box is away in a hidey hole and the clothes have long been worn. 5 years is a really long time in the fashion world.

I kept this sweater of hers and actually wore it a few times, but most of the time it sat in my sewing box haunting me. I loved the colour, a bright pink, but the shape and style really didn't suit my figure (too much hip hugging going on).

A few weekends ago on a Saturday night at 11.30pm I received the sudden inspiration to chop it up and use it as a cardi (I always thought I would turn it into a cushion).

I added strips of fun cotton fabric to the insides to give the knit strength and I love it! Perfect "maternity" accessory, I was going to put buttons on the top but as it turns out with my growing figure I can't even close it! Whoopsies.

Big Sister, hope you dont mind :) (seriously?)

x

You may remember this skirt from that time I told you I made a skirt

To Westport with Sissy - The Journey

I went away last week with my Sister. She's visiting all the way from London and I organised my life so I would be able to spend as much time as possible with her.

The rest of our family were waiting for her arrival on the Westcoast (where we're from), so I picked her up from the airport with Milla only to find out we had to wait another 2 hrs for her luggage to arrive on a later flight. Milla was ready for bed, in fact, ready hours ago, I was trying to stretch it out so she would sleep for the ride over. It was nice to hang out at the airport together and eat lunch. Amy was hanging out for a bakery, apparently they dont have bakeries in England. Weird, huh?

By the time we left the airport Milla was in good spirits, but had been awake for 8 hours and was past it. We had used up most of her food at the airport and Aunty Amy was a stranger who she didn't like sharing the car with her very much. Basically, she slept for 20 minutes and howled the rest of the 3 hours and 40 minutes it took to get to Westport.

We tried everything and I was cursing the person who had told me that morning that babies just look out the window and are happy on long journeys if they have a snack in their hands. Yeah right.  Lesson learnt. In the end we turned up the music to drown her out and that actually worked. She loves music, and whenever the song ended or we talked she started up again. Instead we just sang the rest of the way (really loudly) and that seemed to work.

When we arrived Amy had a little greeting party waiting for us at the top of the driveway. Mum, Nana, Bec, Adam and Tracey were all waving us down in the car. We hopped out and gave them all hugs. Amy had tears and we were in Westport with our family.

...to be continued...

Do you have any tips for travelling with big babies or toddlers? Leave a comment and let me know, I obviously need them!
