Grateful

Last week this happened:: Cuddles on the couch with a poorly girl and her tummy big.

This week she was giving me the same treatment.

I'll be honest guys, I'm kinda over this whole getting sick thing. For the last few years I kind of feel like I've been relatively robust, a few head colds but thats been the extend of it. In the last month i've had two ear infections, some sort of gastro bug, a chesty cough / cold, and have been full term, at the end of myself and very tired. Did I say I was over it?

Today, now well again (just a little weak) I'd like to use this space to be grateful::

1) Grateful for a little girl who has Cat-Like qualities and knows when to be cuddly and patient at all the right times

2) Grateful for a husband / online grocery delivery guy who will un pack all my groceries for me

3) Online grocery orders!!

4) Thankful for a really warm house (we still haven't used our heaters yet this year!)

5) Grateful for friends who will buy us dinner (thanks Amy!)

6) To-Do lists, even though they can get me down and overwhelmed, give me purpose, productivity and accomplishment

7) Grateful for a good cup of tea. I haven't been drinking any for the last month (it inhibits iron absorbption - something I'm trying really hard to hold on to!), but just had one this morning, and boy, its good.

8) In all of the madness and unpreparedness thinking "if my baby came today" I can rest and know that..
  • We have clean towels
  • The supermarket is just around the corner
  • Things wont be perfect, we'll figure it out anyway

9) Loving one of Millas besties turning 2 this week. She is seriously the sweetest girl, and it is actually a blessing to know her.

10) Dettol. Very thankful for Dettol.

Phew, that feels better already!

Whats in your world that you could be grateful for today?

Sophie the Tiger

Friends, meet Sophie the Tiger. Tigers say grrwwrrrr.

Camilla found Sophie amongst a pile of soft toys in her room when she was happily playing in there one day last week. She bought her out to show me and didn't let go of her for the rest of the day.

No, I didn't name Sophie. She was given to my husband years ago as a gift, his absolute favourite animal is a white tiger, and Sophie was given to him by Camilla. An old flame.

Lost? Creeped out yet? I know. Its all a bit strange isn't it? And yes, it is completely weird for me to call one of her toys "sophie"

Camilla happened to visit us last year while we were pregnant and suggested her name, as everyone does, for our baby. We laughed, then looked at each other "Actually, I really like Camilla as a name" "Me too" it hung over us, the only name we ever mutually liked.

An now Camilla, our 1 year old daughter, loves Sophie the Tiger.

I was hoping she would get attached to a toy (not fully attached yet, but we might be getting there (maybe, who knows!)) I thought perhaps it might bring her some security outside of her bond with me. I thought that maybe if i'm not around something else could comfort her.

Their friendship is still blossoming, watch this space.

Were you ever attached to anything as a child? Are your children? What do you think about the whole idea? Leave a comment and let me know!

Loving Boxes and Quality Time

We have had the Big Moo2s staying with us for the last week, and will be here for the next four. Earthquake repairs, they are getting their house plastered and repainted and much of the brick work re done. Its going to look fab when its completed!

They have fully set up our spare room as a little apartment, theres a big screen tv, a fridge, computer, table, two chairs and all their other bits and pieces! With them came big boxes which Milla loved! She even plucked up the courage to crawl through them to the other side!

Infact, they are so set up we barely see them!

They are away this weekend, and on Saturday my own parents are coming to stay in the Moo2s little apartment!

I love that we are able to have a spare room and it can be given out to those who need it, and when its not homing someone its drying our washing and storing love bombs :)

I had a fab night with Mr Moo on Tuesday. I had the car all day and went to pick him up from work, instead of taking us home I drove out to the beach and we had fish and chips in the car while it poured with rain outside and the windows fogged up on the inside.

We went home, put the baby in bed, turned off the lights and watched Harry Potter (and the Goblet of Fire (possibly my most fav movie and book of the series)) together while snuggled on the couch in the dark.

It was devine.

All those little moments make up the joy in my life, its important to stop and remember them :)

Were there any small moments in your week that caused you to stop and enjoy them!? Share in the comments!

Sunshine and Oxytocin

Circa September 2011 - 4 days post baby

As I type it is 4pm on Thursday afternoon, I am full of coffee and cheesy scone, laying on our bed with brand new sheets and soaking in the sun. Sunshine that is filling our room and reaching my bones.

It feels so good.

I can't help but think about this time last year (almost) with my new baby, my memories are filled with sunshine and milk. That is mostly all I remember. Sitting in front of our large sliding doors on the floor soaking in the sun while guest sit on the couches, eating my lunch each day in the sun (on the floor), hanging out flannel after flannel on our clothes horse in the sun, wearing my summer PJs, laying on our bed with our new baby as she is fast asleep.

Sunshine. I love it.

It brings me memories of cuddling a naked Milla in the sun for her jaundice, waking up every morning and putting a naked Milla on a bare chested husband so they could bond. Oxytocin, I'm a big believer.  Oxytocin and sunshine together, why, that could heal almost anything!

So with sunshine and oxytocin I have wonderful new born memories, and this time of year is bringing me back to them.

Its hard to believe those memories are real life. I am so lucky.

This week I have had a gastro bug and have been suffering through night after night of a waking screaming baby. She has learnt to scream instead of cry, and she screams the house down. I have been tired to say the least.

This sunshine is filling every part of me with goodness.

I love it.

Loving Family Vacations

Last weekend the Moo2s travelled a little while to a small thermal town in South Island, New Zealand.

We packed the portacot and our togs and were on our way! The whole weekend was great and I loved doing something different with our family! We had lunch out, dinner in and soaked in the hot pools amongst the darkness and steam. It was amazing.

We also went geocaching with my brother and Milla while we were there. I love geocaching and it was nice to do it with Milla, it takes us to places we've never been and probably would never go (Mr. Moo does not walk anywhere), off the beaten track there is so much beauty and life!

Two caches took us adventuring into a forest I've heard about so many times but have never bothered to go see. We were a few kilometers in and it started pouring with rain, Milla was crying and as we were walking out her head made contact with a hard elbow. Poor little baby. Screams! I pulled up my top and was able to breastfeed her as we made our way out.

Looks like a horror movie waiting to happen does it? heehee

Along with the good is was also very tiring, lets be honest. Travelling with a baby is hard work. For whatever reason she wouldn't sleep in her portacot and woke up every hour crying. On saturday night she spent 3 hours sitting on our bed (at 2am) clapping whenever the shadows from the trees moved *sigh*

Along with that we were also travelling with my large family, they were full on and Milla is not. She spent most of the weekend shaking with fear and crying whenever I wasn't holding her!

We came home exhausted but happy and had big afternoon naps to catch up :)

Loving Friends

I am loving beautiful new friends who feel like they have been in our lives forever. Friends who we have known only a short while but have shared some of the most important moments of our lives with.

I love that our new friends have a beautiful little girl the same age as Milla. She has the sweetest smiley-est nature ever. She is completely adorable and my heart melts when I see her.

I love that our new friends let us crash their lunch date last weekend and then took us to their favourite place in our city. We wandered around together, learnt and laughed and explored this little slice of history in our beautiful city while our girls sheltered from the wind together.

It was a lovely moment in time.

Basking In Love

I am (not really) sorry, but here's another Sisterhood post.

Its just. My heart is so full. And I need to tell you about it! It is truly amazing when a few ladies get together and offer the few bits and pieces they have!

So today I am basking in love. I just ordered a 1 hour facial for a lovely lady in our LOVE BOMB. Isn't that awesome!? One whole hour of pampering from strangers she's never even met.

If someone sent me a facial voucher in the mail I would flip so I just know she'll love it!

Love love love.

This weeks lesson has been to never under estimate anything.

This week we have been featured on Kiwi Mummy Blogs website. Women from around the country will be hearing about us. Amazing.

This week I have been approaching companies for Sisterhood sponsorship. Companies who sell chocolate and beauty products and magazines who have supported similar endeavours in the past. This time I'm looking for more than just one offs, I'm seeking a partner ship.

Don't underestimate anything. Sisters, we are few, but boy are you generous.
