For The Joy Of Mail with Free Printable

Welcome to the very first Sisterhood Spotlight!

I've been wanting to do something like this for a while but have only just figured out what that "something" actually was!

Now you can except a monthly blog post about The Sisterhood, it'll (hopefully) be inspiring, share a story or two, and give you a little take home homework (the good kind!).

I hope The Sisterhood Spotlight is a place where you can be encouraged and spurred on! Please feel free to leave comments, interact with one another or email me with anything you would like to discuss :)

For The Joy of Mail

As the receiver of all your goodness here at HQ I receive a LOT of mail. I'm kind of completely lucky for that, I love opening mail, who doesn't!? Thankfully I have a steady stream of it to open but it always excites me even more when someone mails ME something personal. Actually, it really makes my day! I'm sure it would make yours too?

The most recent mail I received contained some fabric from a blog reader who read a little comment on one of my posts about some cushions I planned on making for Millas room. She had the fabric, and she took the time to go to the post shop and send them anonymously my way! I was so thrilled!!! 

Fabric or not, it was a completely lovely gesture that she would take the time out of her day to send me something that was of no pressing importance except to say "I was thinking of you!"

For the love of mail, and for the love of people in our lives, I've designed this cute little letter head that you can print out for free (if you have a printer) and mail it away to someone! 

It's such a simple gesture that really takes such little time but seems like a big effort. Lets just buy that 70c stamp okay? Lets do it. This month! 

Can you think of someone you would love to send some snail mail to? You might just turn their day upside down and flip it the right way up!

Sisterhood CTV Interview

There's been a lot of Sisterhood news around these parts lately (not sorry at all), and here's another piece of news (haa haa).

A few weeks ago 2 broadcasting school students were allowed into HQ to film me talking about The Sisterhood for a Canterbury Television news slot on "local heroes".

I'm a little embarrassed by this, but of course I said yes! I will not pass up any opportunity handed to me on a silver platter to talk about The Sisterhood.

I reiterated over and over again that I wanted YOU ladies to be the heroes and I feel like I spent that whole hour talking about how amazing you all are, so I'm a little sad that it's more about the Love Bombs than anything. I thought it could be something I would use to thank you with, something YOU could be proud of and show off. But alas, the media is a fickle thing, editing how they like (not that its bad, not at all, just not quite what I had hoped for!)

So I hope you can still be proud, knowing that you have caused The Sisterhood to be where we are today! Thank you for being part of this radical LOVE movement. Also, thank you Lisette for hearing about us and loving us and creating a story to share with the world!! All the best with your broadcasting career

August's Month

Happy Spring!! 

It's September now and I'm well overdue to post the August round up! Oops! 

My favourite post was Katie's Birth Story - 9 months in the making and two months to write it, I still feel goosey when I think about that night. 

I also did a few random update posts, like this Random Thoughts On A Thursday post and Just Stay That Little where I mused over Milla turning two.

Oh, and I made Milla the cutest coat ever, it actually matches this months advertising theme: Spring green! 

I started a new Meet The Sisterhood series to introduce you to some fabulous people, they're quality so make sure you make friends with them! First we met Hazel and then Angela. 

I modelled three times - one time was from when I was a 3 year old model for Postie (hehe) and the other was a recent Ezibuy review and then a breastmates / feeding review.

Phew, what a big month! Thank you so much for continuing to read Sophie Slim and supporting everything that I do!

Meet The Sisterhood: Deb

The Sisterhood is made up of so many beautiful women, many of whom have been with us since the very beginning. I wanted to introduce them to you as they mostly stay under the radar and behind the scenes but they are so very important to me!

I've asked them all a few questions, and they replied! I hope you enjoy getting to know a few more Sisters! (I'll be posting these interviews each week. Make sure you leave a comment and some love for them!)

Introducing Deb!

Deb is quite possibly one of my favourite human beings. Probably because she does lots of "being. She's always got her hands busy, furthering her mind and bettering her family, she's also incredibly honest and wise. You can find all of this on her blog, deb-robertson.blogspot.co.nz. Deb has been so generous to The Sisterhood, and also to my own family. She's responsible for the Kindness Quilt, along with other things that fill our home with Love. I've met Deb and her whanau a bunch of times and I consider it an honour to know her and call her a Sister and Friend.

How did you first hear about The Sisterhood

I heard about the Sisterhood through Sophie's blog. It just seemed like an amazing idea. I've done a few wee things to help, but then the Sisterhood did a huge big thing for me and raised the money for me to deliver a quilt. It blew me away, and really showed me what it feels like to be blessed in this way. It's amazing.

What initially made you get involved? How did you get involved?

I love the idea of all of us doing a little bit and making a difference. I was desperate to do something but I didn't have time to make anything, and so I brought some little items that could be included in the packages.

How did that make you feel?

It is so lovely to be a wee part of something big, and to have it make a difference for others.

What is your favourite part of The Sisterhood?

I love the secrecy, I love how the packages just turn up and bless someone. It's awesome.

What would you like to see us do in the future?

I think it would be awesome if we could leverage from our talents and raise a wee bit of money to use in the Sisterhood. Something like a recipe book where we all put in our wee bit and behold a book that earns money to bless other women. How cool would that be???
